Objectives of the workshop

The objective of the workshop is to provide a working basis among the partners of MAGHRENOV project and selected actors in EU and MPC (Maghreb Partner Countries).

The workshop is oriented to generate results in:

  • Agreeing in the best concept for an EU-MPC collaboration to create capacity building in MPC. Actions in higher education programmes are welcome (MSc, PhD, life-long learning, postdoc), always with the goal to foster innovation and entrepreneurship.
  • Debating about the “how”, the tools to create effectively such capacity building new scenario, the collaboration of different sectors, the funding mechanisms.
  • As an specific action, a MSc programme collaboration is going to be structured as one of the main actions of the workshop.

Programme of the workshop

The workshop is structured in sessions and round tables. The sessions are focusing on the view of every speaker, with presentations of 20-25 minutes and a short debate afterwards. The round tables are focusing on the debate, in such a way that the panellists summarize very briefly their concept in 5-10 minutes (with or without a presentation) and the development of the round table is essentially the debate of the speakers among themselves and with the audience, coordinated by a chairperson.

10:30-11:00 – Welcome and introduction by Josep BORDONAU,

Program of the workshop, objectives and the roadmap of the Project.

11:00-13:10 – Session 1: capacity building concept in MPC area

Debate about the bidirectionality of activities (North-South and South-North), Participation of the   public and private bodies, identifying topics under the umbrella of “capacity building”.
Target sector to be addressed: MSc students, PhD students, technicians in industry, entrepreneurs. Objectives of the capacity building: definition of the “new professional”.
The speakers will show their view about the capacity building concept in MPC area. This means, a view about how can higher education programmes (MSc, PhD and postdoc) as well as life-long learning programmes can foster the innovation and entrepreneurship in MPC area. The speakers will talk about which of these actions are more effective to promote the improvement of innovation and entrepreneurship and their opinion about how they can be implemented in MPC area, taking into account the short term, the medium term and the long term perspective.

14:45-16:45 – Session 2: private-public involvement

Articulate the way to make possible the active participation of industry and public bodies in the actions of MAGHRENOV.
The speakers will talk about how should be the practical implication of private and public bodies in the capacity building, this is: MSc, PhD, postdoc and life-long learning, specially focused, again, to foster innovation and entrepreneurship.

17:15- 18:30 – Round table 1: how to create capacity building in EU-MPC?

Identify the main actions/programmes to create the capacity building results: MSc, PhD, postdoc, eLearning.
This round table is intended to be very practical: defining actions to make possible the implementation of MSc, PhD, postdoc and life-long learning programmes in MPC area.
The speakers will talk about the tools they know and the future tools that could be developed in a short term basis.

This session is very practical, showing the current state and the medium term strategy of the bachelor, MSc and PhD programmes in MPC area, candidates to be integrated in a Joint Master Programme EU-MPC.

Tell the taxi driver to go to the corner of “Av. De l’Exèrcit/Gran Capità” streets (marked with a circle in the map). It takes about 20 minutes from the airport and the fare is around 25-30 €.

Directions when coming from public transportation:

By Metro, leave at station “Zona Universitària”, line L3 (green). It is shown in the map.

If you are coming from the airport, take the shuttle “Aerobus” (single ticket 5.90 €) in the terminal and leave at the first stop “Plaça Espanya”. Then, look for the metro station “Espanya” (50 m from there) and take line L3 to “Zona Universitària” (single ticket 2 €; if you plan to do from 5 to 10 travels, the card T10 is very convenient for 9.80 €; you can share this card with various colleagues).
